THE DRIVING SHAFT


   Leading the moving cone (pulley) with bearings (six balls) is based on the drive shaft of

the variator and connects to it with the help of the planetary mechanism. Planetary gear is

used for reverse gear. The drive shaft consists of movable and fixed cone. Progress in rolling

cone is 22 mm.

   Necessary push force to create friction between the metal belt and pulley cones formed

push-plates in the control cavities rolling cone. Prior to disassembly of the drive with a

planetary mechanism will check the compressed air oil duct and the piston speed ahead with a

seal (botton picture). We take our adapter with a foot pump, through a hole number 1,

we simply blows the channel, passing in the shaft of the planetary mechanism. Through the

channel number 2, we check gasket on the junction of the shaft of the planetary mechanism and

the drive shaft, and serviceability of the piston speed ahead. When applying compressed air to

the channel number 2, the piston compresses the friction, and the shaft of the planetary

mechanism must rotate along with the drive shaft. To access the friction, the piston forward and

the gasket between the shaft should be removed large snap ring 3.

   Before removing the piston front of the check again with compressed air work piston. Our

   Piston forward is one of the weaknesses in the variator. Major failures because of it. Rubber

deposited by curing on a metal part of the piston - hardens and loses elasticity. Height (thick-

ness on) a rubber bumper is only 5 mm, and height of the cylinder in the fixed part of the cone

leading shaft is also small. During compression clutch forward, the piston is so out of the cylin-

der, which creates oil leak on the outer circumference of the piston. Reduced contact area bet-

ween the piston and cylinder. Falling oil pressure ball valve on the piston does not have time 

to close. Piston periodically presses, the press clutches. And as a result is obtained:

   1. Twitching of the time away.

   2. Wear of the friction, they simply burn out. Increased clearances and there is a metal ring.

   3. Of clutch friction material are particles that fall into the oil block of solenoid and a valve,

       which causes them to malfunction - jamming valve (plunger).

   4. Wear surface of the cones.

   5. Wear metallic belt.

   6. Crushing balls in the slots.

   7. Chips in the slots themselves driving and driven shafts.

   8. As a result - jamming mobile cones.

   9. And later breakage of the metal belt.

   10. In the torque converter divides the overrunning clutch.


 This photo shows the "native" piston. Piece of gum "bitten" I myself, there is no flexibility at

all, its just not there.
